I designed Prairie Hearth Sampler while reading My Ántonia, and you can feel that influence in every detail. As I moved through the story, I kept coming back to the quiet strength of the homesteaders and the way their lives were built from repetition, care, and small acts of making. That is what shaped the design.
It features scattered wildflowers, simple folk-art pioneers, and stylized rows of corn plants, all arranged in a steady, thoughtful rhythm. The elements reflect what stood out to me in the book: the beauty of the land, the importance of growth and survival, and the people who made something meaningful out of both.
More than anything, this piece is about that kind of resilience, the kind that shows up every day in work, in care, and in the desire to create something lasting. Designing it felt like a way of staying in that world a little longer and turning those ideas into something you can actually hold onto.
