Little Green Feather FAQ

Most Common Questions

How do I add my pattern to Ravelry?

Click the Import to My Ravelry button in your order email. If you missed it, we'll add it manually.

What's included in each pattern PDF?

Every pattern includes written instructions, split charts marked every 10 stitches, and a one-page chart that works beautifully with apps like Knit Companion.

I just placed an order but haven't received my pattern. What now?

Check your inbox and spam folder for a message from Etsy, Shopify, or Ravelry with a download link. Still can't find it? Reply with your order number.

Orders & Downloads
I just placed an order but haven't received my pattern. What now?

Your pattern is delivered as an instant digital download. Check your email inbox and your spam or promotions folder for a message from Etsy, Shopify, or Ravelry — depending on where you purchased — with a download link. On Etsy in a web browser, the app does not support downloads. You can also access your pattern anytime by going to Your Account → Purchases and reviews and clicking Download Files. If you still can't find it, just reply with your order number and we'll resend it right away.

I bought a pattern on your website. Can it be added to my Ravelry library?

Yes! Your order confirmation email includes an Import to My Ravelry button in the download links section. Just click it while logged in to Ravelry and the pattern will be sent to your library. If the button isn't working or you missed the email, send us your Ravelry username and we'll add it manually.

What's your refund policy?

Because our patterns are digital files delivered instantly, all sales are final and we're not able to offer refunds. That said, if something is genuinely wrong with the file or you can't access it, please let us know. We'll always make it right.

Newsletter & Coupons
Where is the discount code from my welcome email?

Your welcome email includes a unique 10% off coupon code valid for 30 days on your first website order. If you can't find it, check your spam or promotions folder. If you find it there, dragging it to your inbox helps make sure future emails land where they should. If it's truly missing, reply to us and we'll resend.

Pattern Files & Printing
What's included in each pattern PDF?

Every pattern includes written instructions for both left- and right-handed crocheters. Some older patterns might not include left-handed instructions, but if you purchase one that needs them, let us know and we will update the pattern for you within a few days. Each pattern also includes split charts marked every 10 stitches for easy tracking, and a one-page chart designed to work beautifully with apps like Knit Companion. Pattern-specific extras like reference videos and add-on charts are noted in the listing.

Can I print the pattern?

Yes — every PDF is formatted for standard letter-size 8.5" × 11" printing. The chart pages are designed to be readable at full size, but you're welcome to scale up if you'd like a larger working copy on your hook.

The PDF won't open or looks broken.

Try downloading again on a desktop or laptop. Mobile browsers sometimes cut off larger files mid-download. Make sure you're using a current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free, or Preview on a Mac. If you're still having trouble, send us a screenshot of what you're looking at and we'll send a fresh copy.

I think I found an error in your pattern.

Here at Little Green Feather Crochet, we use a proprietary computer sheet to make the written portions of our patterns, as well as employing the services of a team of testers who double check for errors. It is for this reason that we encourage you to triple check your stitch count for at least two prior rows. However, if you have completed this step and still believe there is an error, send us an email and we will look into it ASAP!

Are your patterns available in languages other than English?

Our patterns are written in English with US crochet terminology, though the charts are universal and many international makers work directly from those. A handful of patterns have Dutch language versions available. If you'd really love a translation of a specific pattern, please ask. We sometimes have one in the works. So far, we are only able to offer patterns in Dutch and English.

Overlay Mosaic Technique
I'm new to overlay mosaic. Is this the right place to start?

Welcome! Overlay mosaic uses back loop single crochets and front loop double crochets using a single color per row to build up a chart-based design. If you're comfortable with single crochet, chains, and reading basic stitch counts, you can absolutely tackle it. We recommend watching a quick tutorial on the technique first to get a feel for the rhythm before you start.

Should I be using one color per row, or switching colors mid-row?

Almost all our patterns are designed to be worked in two colors with one color per row. You alternate between Color A and Color B every row. Color carrying, or switching colors mid-row, is an optional advanced technique that some makers enjoy adding to make pieces more colorful. Unless the pattern specifically says otherwise, you do not need to carry colors to make it work.

What yarn weight and hook size do I need?

Each pattern lists the recommended yarn weight, hook size, and total yardage on the first page. Most are designed around worsted weight #4 yarn, but you're welcome to substitute any weight if you adjust your hook size. Your final dimensions will scale with your yarn choice.

The back of my work has long floats. Am I doing something wrong?

Long floats on the back are totally normal for overlay mosaic. That's just how the technique works. If you'd prefer to lock them down for a tidier back, the easiest method is grabbing the back loop of the next row down on every 5th or 6th double crochet on long rows. Don't lock every stitch though, or the fabric gets very heavy. We're happy to send a video demo if you'd like one.

Can I make the pattern reversible?

Yes, and we can send you reference videos on how to do it. A heads up though: making overlay mosaic reversible shortens the design slightly, makes the fabric significantly heavier, and uses noticeably more yarn. It's a beautiful effect but worth understanding the trade-offs before you commit on a big blanket.

I'm stuck on a specific row. Can you help?

Absolutely! We do highly recommend recounting your current row and up to 2 rows prior if you’re encountering an error, but once you’ve done that, send an email with the pattern name, the row you're working on, and a photo of your work-in-progress if you can. We'll get you unstuck. Bonus: our Facebook group Little Green Feather Crochet has tons of helpful makers who love jumping in too.

Selling, Sharing & Licensing
Can I sell items I make from your patterns?

Yes — you're absolutely welcome to sell finished items you make from our patterns. We always appreciate a credit to Little Green Feather when someone asks what the pattern is, but it's not required. We hope you sell a ton of blankets! What you can't do is share, resell, or redistribute the pattern PDF itself, or use our charts and designs in your own published patterns.

Can I share the pattern with a friend?

Please don't. Each purchase is licensed for one person's personal use, and proceeds from the patterns are how we keep designing new ones. If a friend loves your project, we'd be so grateful if you sent them our way instead.

Do you take custom design requests?

We don't take individual custom commissions, but we love hearing what you'd like to see next! Drop your ideas in our Facebook group Little Green Feather Crochet or reply to any of our newsletters. Marissa reads every suggestion.

I saw one of your patterns being sold on a different site. Should I buy it there?

Unfortunately, over the past couple years we have seen a huge influx of pattern theft. At this time, we only sell patterns on this site, the Little Green Feather Etsy shop, and the Little Green Feather Ravelry page. If you see it somewhere else, please do not buy it there, as we cannot guarantee the quality of what you might receive, and we will obviously not receive any proceeds from the sale. Note: this does not include patterns previously purchased in yarn packs from YarnPlaza or Wolplein. Although we no longer offer packs through those sites, the ones previously purchased there were licensed for their use.

I work for a yarn company or publisher, and I’m interested in licensing your patterns or offering you a sponsorship. How do I do that?

Please send all emails of this type directly to hello@littlegreenfeather.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can, usually within 2–3 business days.
