I love your new space! I wish I had a crochet room! I keep telling my husband we have to sell this house and get a bigger one 😂

In my previous blog post, I talked about some big life changes our family went through over the last year. Like most major transitions, some of them were clearly good, and others felt a bit more difficult at the time. But in the end, they all seemed to work out for the best.
Early in 2024, our family made a big move from the city where our kids grew up to a smaller farming town. We were all feeling pretty burned out on city life and wanted to improve our day-to-day quality of living. Not long after we settled in, our daughter decided it was time to strike out on her own and moved into a home nearby.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t fully prepared for my eldest to leave the nest. Some days were definitely harder than others. But it’s truly special to watch someone you’ve known from the very beginning step into their independence and start their own journey.
I always try to look on the bright side — even when I’m feeling a bit down. So while I was adjusting to not seeing my beautiful daughter’s face every day, I redirected that energy into creating a workspace for myself in her old room. It was the first time in my adult life that I’ve had a space that’s completely mine, and that felt exciting.
I brought my yarn cubbies from the old house, and they fit perfectly along one wall of the new office. I even had the chance to do a bit of color organizing — it’s so nice being able to see all the yarn at once for inspiration.
I also found a cute little mid-century-style couch at a great price. It’s green (of course!), super comfy, and perfect for long crochet sessions when I have the time. I’m planning to add a shelf nearby for current projects, but for now, they’re tucked into the cubbies too.
I brought along my little work desk as well, although I’ll be honest — I’m not much of a desk person. Most of my work still happens on my trusty laptop as I move around the house, but the small desk works perfectly when I need it.
And wouldn’t you know it — just as I had everything set up, we ended up adopting a stray cat that had been living on our porch. We think he was left behind during someone’s move. We grew pretty attached to him, and though he didn’t seem too keen on being indoors at first, coyote activity in the area changed our minds.
Now, he’s made himself right at home in my crochet workspace. He loves lounging on the cat tree by the window and has claimed the yarn closet as his personal nap spot — even if it means climbing over my keyboard to get there.
Now that life has settled a bit, I’m excited to start recording more tutorial videos — finally putting this new creative space to good use! It’s such a gift to have a place that’s just mine… where I can dream, make, and explore at my own pace.
Thank you so much for spending a little time with me today on this crochet workspace tour — it truly means the world. I hope you enjoyed this peek into my new workspace, and I’d love for you to stick around for what’s coming next:
If you haven’t joined our email list yet, now’s the perfect time. You’ll be the first to hear about new patterns, special offers, tutorials, and more — all delivered with love from my little corner of the world.
Until next time, happy stitching 💚
Sincerely,
Marissa
